Where a person’s property is damaged by the wrongful act of another, the loss can usually be quantified in money. When the amount can be determined, as with the cost of repairs, replacement, or restitution, it is claimed as special damages. Damage to property often requires repair of an item or replacement of the parts that were damaged.
